I N T R O D U C T I O N
For this assignment I am going to be working for a live client, "Bliss" hotel. I am going to try to accomplish a selection of images for their hotel for all of their chosen rooms, I am going to start this by putting together a mood board so I can see which kind of places I can work from with my photography. I am going to put together a mood board and add it to my blog post below. I want to see what other hotels have in their rooms for more inspiration and look at what would look good in a modern day-to-day hotel. What kind of different styles are going to be available for this given brief and what I can work from.
I really like the idea of having multiple images put together; there is two different methods I would like to work from, I would like to have either a group of images that relate to each other put together as a big main collage feature on a main wall, or the idea of having a the images resting against the wall either on a shelf or the bed head frame, I feel as if this look really looks good together and I would like to put the colours in to match the rooms. I was thinking of keeping the images black and white and then a big burst of colour in the picture to capture the residents eyes. I like the idea of having the collage work presented in the lobby or in the hall ways and then keeping the work that rests on a shelf or on the bed frame to be in the rooms so that the images are presented in different ways but all around the hotel.
I want the work that I capture to obviously have something in sync with the hotel, so I want to see if I can get it to connect with what the hotel is al about, I want the work to work with each photo I take, so when I try to do a collage I want all of the images to represent the same thing. All of the images Im going to capture all going to be shot in colour but edited into black and white and I am going to try to get a bit of bold colour edited into the image.

My other ideas consist of looking into work which includes all different things that link into nature, but nature within southport (black and white commercial photography) so I would want to look at Nevil Street in southport for example. I want all my work to be black and white. I want it to continue in the original style I had with the collage and different frames. I want all my images to relate to season resort pictures, but again, all in black and white.
These are just a prime example on what kind of images I would like to work with, in Southport, we have different sea-side shops, such as ice-cream and rock shops and I think it would be a beneficial advertisement for images of southport to be portrayed in this hotel that is based in Southport, so the customers will be able to see what the town. I think this is a good idea because the whole story behind bliss is that they are working with people they already have around them, so I think portraying images of the community around them will pay a big impact to the story they are trying to tell. I think I am going to look at other image settings as well but this is my idea which I hope will work.
I want to focus on either the surrounding area of Bliss hotel, which would be Southport and capture all the things that we have here but I want to capture them in a different way that they have all been captured in before. I want each collage of images to be focused on the same thing, either the same object being photographed by different angels or different things but from the same surrounding area.
I have been messing around with different shoots that I have done the past few weeks, and I have been organising them into set photos, I put together the photos that i think would look good when put together in a collage. I have walked around the southport town and captured images from where I feel I would be helping smaller business out and showing the customers of bliss hotel what Southport is really about.

This is just a brief idea of images from a little stall in Southport, I feel as if these images would look a lot better when they would be printed in black and white, and maybe with a little bit of bold colour being placed on the image.
I think that these images would look good against a dark painted wall outlined with white photo frames, to set the contrast of the images against the wall.
NOVELTY SHOPS (UP THE ROAD FROM BLISS HOTEL) - NEVIL STREET
These images are just small examples I have which what kind of area I would like to work around, I like how it is connected to Southport the most because this is what Southport's main feature is, I like how Bliss hotel is trying to have a connection with everything they do with Southport. I know Bliss hotel get all of their meat and fish from places local in Southport, so this shows that they have little connections within their surrounding areas.
SOUTHPORT'S MOST KNOWN STRUCTURES - NEXT DOOR TO BLISS
I took all of these images, literally just a few yards up from Bliss hotel, I think images like these would have a good impact on the rooms in bliss hotel, only because like I said, I personally feel as if Bliss should post images of places surrounding bliss hotel, I know images like these are always portrayed around Southport, but I think if they were edited to a different way it would show a totally different impact on the images.
For these images I focused on lighting and the contrast of the image, I wanted to keep the image the same but give it a drastic change. The thing I wanted to do with images like this is put them next to a bold bright colour, but within the collage section.
PROCESS
To get these effects all I did was put the properties of the image on each side for the different contrast, I am really happy with how these turned out because I think its a really different idea that you don't usually see exactly the same image next to each other but yet they can look completly different.
My other idea for these images was to put them in the opposite coloured frames for a good looking contrasted feel on the walls in the hotel, I will put an example of what I mean by this definition down below.
BUILDING THE IDEA
I really like this idea, I think it will give the rooms a sleek, modern, classy look and portrays images of the surrounding things around Southport to give it that homely touch, I want to capture some more images and do the same effect thing for those images also so I can see what I am able to do if I mess around with it.
