FASHION

PHOTOGRAPHER

Fashion has always been one of my main interest, I have always found interest in photography and always found interest in styling outfits and seeing where they end up.

I could see myself working within this industry in the future as I enjoy doing this as a hobby now so it could only get better in the future.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE A FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER

SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO BECOME A FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER

A career in fashion photography requires knowledge of technical elements of photography, including lighting, sharpness and composition, and an awareness of fashion and photographic trends. Fashion photographers must be able to translate their artistic vision into paragraphs. They must also have strong interpersonal skills because fashion photographers often lead teams of stylist, make up artists and other fashion professionals.

LANDSCAPE

PHOTOGRAPHER

I find an interest in shooting photographs of buildings and platforms, trying to find the correct angel to shoot from, I enjoy doing this because landscape photography is not as well known comparred to fashion and other types and its good to get a range of different imagery in your work.

These are some of my landscape images that I collected when I went on a day out in Manchester, I edited them so they were all black and white, I liked the idea of having a dark series of work for a project proposal I had been given.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE A landscape PHOTOGRAPHER

To become a landscape photographer there is many things you would need to be good at, as being a landscape photographer is a hard job, and an un-safe job. You have to get in at angels that are hard to get to and a lot of landscape photographers have to be knowledgable with survival kits and health and safety.

-LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

WHERE AM I NOW?

Currently, I am a HND photography student at Southport College, I am working my way towards qualifying as a photographer, I have all of my GCSEs and have D*D*D* in Art and Design (Level 3, EXTENDED DIPLOMA). I have an online portfolio and blog where all of my work is portrayed for people to see, I post them on my blog so my teachers and (clients) are able to see what I am doing and where I am up to with my units.

MY PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

My personal characteristics are a numerous amount of different things, but obviously not everything. I am developing my confidence since I have started this course, I am driven towards what I want to get and when ever I am determined and I put my mind and my all towards it I will achieve it. The main thing that I think I need to focus on the most is my time management, I am good with handing things in on time, but I lack a bit on everything else but I have come a long way and I have helped myself a lot, I just need to keep it up. I know that I am a creative individual, and I am always driven towards what I want to get. I focus mainly on things that I like the most, for example: If I was to get given a project I would focus on things that I enjoyed to do and things I like doing; If I was to be given a project I didn’t like I would still put my all into it because I like to achieve the best in everything I can. I work in a yoga studio because my other passion from photography and art is fitness. I show clients how I am determined in both career pathways. I completed a level 3 in Art and Design as well as a level 3 in Personal Training / Fitness Instructor, this is because I like to keep my options wide so I know I have many different pathways I could walk down. i have good drawing skills and good working knowledge in the fitness industry and good knowledge of photography. I am also very driven towards the fashion industry, this is what I focus on mainly whilst doing my photography units because its a great way for  me to look closer into the fitness industry. I am also enjoyable of the portraiture side of photography which is why I like to collaborate my fashion images within portraiture images. My main focus for photography would be to focus on my camera and lighting skills and keep trying to achieve more and more, hopefully by the end of this course.

WORK EXPERIENCE

On the 26th September '19, I went to do some work experience, with a professional photographer in a professional photography studio. I had the chance to work with a professional model, and make up artist. I got the chance to capture images for a french clothing brand. I will have all the images I captured put below on to this blog unit. I asked a member of staff to capture some photos of me behind the scences of me taking pictures. The images I captured will be posted live on the clothing brands website. I got to use his camera (Canon EOS 5D), I am really glad I got to have the experience to do this shoot. It gave me a real imput of what actually goes on in the fashion photography industry. It made me realise a lot about this job and shown me how fast these shoots actually go. It made me realise what it would actually be like to be in this industry. It made me realise that this is something that I do really enjoy doing and is something I would be more than happy to consider having a future career in. Having the chance to get the experience really helped me out with trying to decided what I would be more considerate of doing in the future.

The images that I am going to post below are all the images I captured of the model in the photo studio. I am really happy with how all of these images turned out. They have all been professionally edited and developed. These are all of the finishing pictures ready to go live on the clothing brands website.

CLICK THE ARROW TO SCROLL

All of these images I managed to capture by myself, with the help of Zack from ZED Photography, in Southport Town Centre. The camera to the right of this text is the camera that I used for this shoot. For lighting we only had a softbox and LED lights to illuminate the model. I am more than happy with my finishing images and I am so glad I had the chance to capture this experience.

He taught me how fashion photographers actually shoot fashion shoots, he shown me all the processes and how quick the process is. The fashion industry is a quick moving process, any delays and you would be set back automattically. When doing these shoots I was photographing, whilst Zack was selecting and then Kirk was editing and sending over the images to the branded company.

BRENTINY

PARIS

These are just some simple screenshots of the BRENTINY PARIS website, this is the fashion clothing brand that ZED PHOTOGRAPHY work for, they send over items of clothing from France to ZEDS studio in Southport and a model comes to get her photographs taken for this clothing brand. Its a weird, but cool process and there was so much more to it than I actually thought. I did really enjoy shooting these images and meeting all these new people that have connections with the photography world.

MARKETING MATERIALS

I have made two separate business cards, I did this as a trail to see how they would turn out. I did one with a camera lens on and I did one with a personal logo. I wanted to see them together to see which one I like more. I am going to try all different methods of marketing so I know what I will need when I am ready to achieve these goals.
